As a member of the Legislators Retirement Plan (Legislators Plan), you are not covered by Social Security.
However if you have 30 years or more of substantial Social Security earnings
or were born before 1924 or were eligible for a Legislators Plan annuity before
1986, even if you did not retire, then your Social Security is not diminished
because of legislative service. If you have fewer than 30 years of substantial
Social Security earnings, your benefit may be reduced under the Windfall Elimination
Provision. This provision is covered in the
Social Security publication, Fact Sheet No. 2, No. 05-10045. For further information,
call Social Security at 1 (800) 772-1213.
