   Disability Benefit Eligibility
To qualify for disability benefits under the Military Affairs Retirement Plan you need three or more years of service. Monthly disability benefits are paid for a person's lifetime, or until the person is determined to be no longer disabled. Disability benefits are payable at any age if a person has three or more years of service and meets the disability definition.

To qualify for disability, you must be totally and permanently disabled as defined below:

"An employee who is less than the applicable federal military status mandatory retirement age and becomes disabled and physically or mentally unfit to perform the occupational duties due to injury, sickness, or other disability and who is found disqualified for retention on active duty as a result of a physical examination required by applicable federal laws or regulations"
