The amount you receive for disability benefits under the State Patrol Retirement Plan depends on whether
or not the disability is job-related or non job-related. The minimum disability benefit for
a job-related disability benefit is 60 percent of your high-five average salary.
If you have over 20 years of service, you receive 3 percent for each year of service. The minimum benefit payable
under a non job-related disability is 45 percent of your high-five average salary. If you have over
15 years of service, you receive 3 percent for each year of service.

How your MSRS benefit may impact benefits payable from Workers Compensation:
If you qualify for a MSRS disability and receive workers' compensation because
of your disability, your workers compensation benefit will likely be reduced
because of the disability benefits payable from MSRS. MSRS will pay your entire
disability amount, and Workers' Compensation likely will apply the reduction.
How Your MSRS benefit may impact benefits payable from your Long-Term Disability insurance plan:
If you purchase an optional Long-Term Disability plan, the amount you are paid from MSRS
will reduce the amount you are paid from your disability plan. Any amounts received from
Social Security will also lower payments from your Long-Term Disability plan. For more
information regarding your Long-Term Disability plan please contact The Department of Employee Relations at 651-296-2457.
If you would like an estimate of your MSRS disability benefit, please contact
MSRS.
