Service requirements
To be eligible for retirement benefits, you must have at least three years of allowable
service credit, if hired before July 1, 2010, or five years of allowable service credit,
if hired on or after July 1, 2010.
Age requirements
A State Patrol Plan member can begin drawing a reduced benefit as early as age 50 and an
unreduced benefit at age 55.
Employer-paid health insurance benefits
Some officers covered by the State Patrol Plan are also eligible for employer-paid health
insurance benefits from the date they retire until they reach age 65. Please contact your
human resource or benefits department regarding this important health care coverage benefit
before you decide to retire.
